Speakers and moderators need to register for this conference. You are provided with a discounted registration rate. If registering on-line, use the discount code that was e-mailed to you.  Go to the Registration Page for cost details.



Important Date: OCTOBER 12, 2015 - All final Publication Ready Papers 10-12 pages must be uploaded to the PAPER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. Extensions will NOT be possible. If the paper is a few extra pages that is fine. You will not receive comments on your papers. If there is an issue with the paper it may not be published in the conference proceedings. Make sure this is final and you have followed all formatting and copyright and permissions guidelines. Please remove all track changes and all comment boxes before your upload it.


Congratulations and thank you for your acceptance to speaker at the Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Congress 2016. This is an excellent opportunity for you to share knowledge and information with your colleagues. These documents will assist you in preparing your session. Following these guidelines will enable you to maximize your session time. It is important that you prepare an interesting and informative presentation for the conference. Please review the following guidelines to assist you doing this.

General Notes on Submissions

  • The login name and password used for abstract upload to the paper management system must be the same for the final paper upload. They cannot be changed to a different login name and password.
  • Allowable file types are Word 2003(.doc) / 2007(.docx) or rich text format (.rtf).
  • Columns and PDFs are not allowed.
  • Final papers are encouraged. You will not receive comments on your final paper and will not have an opportunity to make any changes after October 12.
  • Please make sure you do not have any track changes or comments in your paper or we will assume it is a draft and it cannot be published.
  • You are required to register for the Congress, attend, and make a presentation in your approved and assigned session.
  • All sessions are 90 minutes.


To document the Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Congress 2016, proceedings will be published. Authors of accepted abstracts are strongly encouraged to submit a 10 to 12 page final paper for inclusion in the proceedings. The proceedings will be copyrighted and published by ASCE. It is the author's responsibility to obtain any necessary permissions or approvals from employers, project owners, or clients prior to submission of the final paper for publication. Material included in your submission from previously published sources, including the Internet, may require permission from the copyright holder of that publication or Web site. It is the author's responsibility to obtain the permission for reuse of this material and include the appropriate credit information in the paper.

Please read the moderator guidelines or Lightning Round Moderator guidelines carefully. All moderator should communicate early with session authors and make sure you coordinate receiving final power points in advance of your session.

Important: remember that LAPTOPS are not provided. The moderator is responsible for bring the laptop with all the session power points pre-loaded and tested to the session.  Please make sure you arrange to have a laptop at the session and that you have upload all your speaker presentation(s) ahead of time and tested that they work.

Lightening Round Sessions are a new format where each speaker gets to show 1 to 3 power point slides (maximum) and speak for maximum of 3 minutes.   After all the speakers are done they will move to highboy tables where they will have their laptop. The audience can go for individual discussions and more in-depth presentations in a one-on-one format.

These documents will assist you in preparing for your lightning round session

  • You can create a maximum of 3 slides for your presentation. You only have 3 minutes to speak. Practice.
  • Remember after your presentation you will have your laptop on a highboy and you can show a flyer, a power point, pictures etc. to better explain your project. Get creative. Make your show large enough so people can see from a distance.
  • REMEMBER – You will not have internet access and you will not have a power cord.
  • Please make sure your laptop can run on batteries for at least 90 minutes.
  • If you want to submit a final paper for publication in the conference proceedings your final publication ready paper is due October 12, 2015
  • View Paper Formatting Instructions and view copyright and permission information.
  • Please look carefully at your final paper to make sure you have taken care of all edits before you upload it. This includes spelling, list of all authors, formatting, figure and table numbering, copyright and permission issues. Remove all track changes.
  • Follow the paper formatting guidelines carefully.
  • All photos need to identify were they came from and who owns them.
